Not only are fundraisers educational, but they are also a lot of fun! In many cases, children will look to their parents for guidance when planning a fundraiser. If your child has a fundraiser coming up, here are a few ways you can help them achieve their goals!
Know Your Product
A successful salesperson knows their product inside and out. You are more likely to sell your products if the customers believe that you are knowledgeable in what you are trying to pitch to them. Depending on your child’s age and knowledge of their products, you may need to step in and help answer customer questions. If your child is hosting and running the fundraiser on their own, make sure they know their products like the back of their hands!
Here are some commonly asked questions from customers at a bake sale:
“Do you have any gluten-free products?”
“How do I cook this?”
“Does this come in any other flavors?”
“What would you recommend?”
Set Goals
Children should be taught at a young age that they need to set goals in life. Without goals, a person has nothing to work towards. At the start of your child’s fundraiser, have them set some realistic goals for their fundraising campaign. For example, it could be the amount of money they want to raise or the number of products they want to sell.
Write Thank You Notes
A thank you note will go a long way. A child should be taught that a well-written thank-you note is proper etiquette. After the fundraiser is over with, help your child craft thank you notes to those who contributed to their fundraiser.
Don’t Do All The Work
As a parent, you want nothing more than to see your child succeed. There is nothing wrong with lending a helping hand to your child during their fundraising efforts; however, you don’t want to end up doing all the work! A fundraiser should be an educational experience for a child. By doing all the work, you are taking away the opportunity for your child to learn.
